Why Choose Furniture & Interiors?
Far from the outdated stereotype of just "working with wood," the modern furniture sector works in many different materials, is a dynamic, high-tech and creative field that offers a fantastic starting point for ambitious school leavers and career changers.
Here is why you should consider trading the classroom or existing job role for a career in the furniture sector.
Earn While You Learn
Why pay for your education when you can get paid to be educated? As an apprentice, you are hired by an employer and receive a regular wage while learning the trade. Your training costs are covered, meaning you can start building your independence and your savings immediately, all without taking out student loans.
A Highly Valued, Future-Proof Skill Set
There is a recognised skills shortage across the industry, meaning qualified, hands-on craftspeople and technicians are in high demand. By learning a trade, you are gaining transferable problem-solving and technical skills that will ensure you are employable for life. You will be taught the exact methods and standards that employers are crying out for, putting you in agreat position for rapid career progression.
Build Real-World Pride
Apprenticeships get you working on real projects destinedfor real homes and commercial spaces. You will work alongside experienced craftspeople, learning their secrets and developing an acute attention to detail.
There is nothing quite like the satisfaction of looking at a finished project knowing you built it from the ground up or made your contribution in a team working production environment.
Thinking Beyond Apprenticeships?
While apprenticeships are a fantastic way to get started, they’re not the only route into the industry. Furniture and interiors businesses also recruit for roles in areas like:
- Interior design
- Sales and customer service
- Technical drawing and 3D modelling
- Production planning and logistics
- Marketing and business operations
Some of these roles may require different types of qualifications or experience, but all of them play a part in shaping the industry. Whether you want to work with your hands, your ideas, or your people skills, there’s something here for you.
